Going Green

grandkids-011My little Siler is going green. If you think I’m talking about cloth diapers, you obviously don’t know me well. I’m talking about a different kind of green. These days my youngest child is green with envy. Yes, a little jealous streak has emerged as this mama’s boy has decided that he just doesn’t like sharing my attention with his siblings. I’m not sure how this has happened. I thought the youngest of three would come into the world realizing his place in the family line up and realize that sharing is just a necessity of life.

Yesterday Eli fell down and bumped his head on the floor, and he needed Mommy to make it all better. The tears were pouring down his face. I pulled him in my lap and kissed his boo-boo on his head. Siler was not so sympathetic. He ran over and with all his 16-month-old might, Siler attempted to pull Eli out of my lap.

Siler is jealous whenever Mila and Eli sit in my lap. I guess he thinks my lap is only reserved for him. After Siler realized he wasn’t strong enough to physically move Eli, he tried swatting at Eli’s head. He quickly learned that I was not going to tolerate hitting. Still, he didn’t give up. I think I have one strong willed little boy on my hands. Next he tried to wiggle his little body in between Eli and me. By this time, he’s crying even louder than Eli.

It’s official. Siler has officially entered toddlerhood. Gone is my sweet, innocent baby boy. He’s now at that age where he’s testing me and learning his boundaries. He’s facing the hard reality that life is not all about Siler all the time. Thankfully, he has two siblings who are determined to give him a crash course in that. Here’s hoping he’s a fast learner.
