Halloween Revisited

img_7832It’s Dec. 1, and Siler finally got dressed up in his Halloween costume for pictures. I guess that officially qualifies me as slacker mom. In my defense, I did take pictures the week after Halloween, but he still had that lovely green drainage pouring from his nose. I should really erase those ghastly pictures from my hard drive in case Siler’s ever on American Idol or runs for political office one day.

Putting on a costume doesn’t sound like a lot of work, but it is when you have two other children running around the house. Each time I’d think about taking photos of Siler in his pumpkin costume, I’d have to settle a brawl between the kids, clean up some inevitable mess from the floor or Siler would be napping.

Today was the perfect day though. The sun was out, his nose wasn’t running for a change, and Mila and Eli were at preschool. It was a Christmas miracle as far as I’m concerned!

It’s wonderful to have some one-on-one camera time with my little one. It’s sad but true that the baby of the family gets photographed less. Of course, less is relative. I was a photo-taking fool with my twins. I’m surprised they don’t see permanent flashes of light.

I took a picture of Mila and Eli every Wednesday their first year of life. They were born on a Wednesday, and my goal was to capture their changes on a weekly basis. I started out doing the same for Siler, but that all fell to the wayside when he was three or four months old. Life just gets busier with each child you add to your family.

Well, I’m glad I can at least go to bed tonight happy that I snapped a few Halloween photos for Siler’s baby book. Of course, I’ll probably never get around to actually making Siler’s baby book, but it’s good to know the photos are there. My husband keeps telling me that boys don’t care about baby books anyway.
